Applications

MLI multi-layer insulation films

Structural bonding films

PEEK composite assembly

Satellite thermal management

The challenge

Aerospace substrates demand absolute reliability. PEEK structural films, MLI insulation layers, and composite release films must maintain bond integrity through extreme thermal cycles, vacuum, and vibration.

CPI's answer

CPI plasma activation delivers 9× bond strength increase on PEEK and fluoropolymers with 120-day stability. Our Ximofilm release liners are used in aerospace composite lay-up processes where silicone contamination is disqualifying.

Cleanroom-grade liners

The challenge

Medical applications require contamination-free processing. Silicone migration from release liners cannot be tolerated in wound care or implantable device contexts. Adhesive bonding on PEEK and PTFE catheter materials must survive sterilisation.

CPI's answer

Ximofilm release liners are manufactured in a Class 1000 cleanroom with zero silicon detected by FTIR and rinsing tests. Our surface functionalization chemistry activates PEEK and PTFE for bonding with no backbone degradation — meeting the most stringent biocompatibility requirements.

Optical film release

Challenge #1

In electronics, silicone contamination is disqualifying — even trace migration onto optical or electrical contact surfaces causes field failures.

CPI's answer

Ximofilm release liners are validated for hard disk drive and coverlay assembly where zero silicone contamination is mandatory.

Challenge #2

Flexible substrate activation for FPC bonding requires permanent adhesion without LMWOF formation.

CPI's answer

Our atmospheric plasma activation prepares FPC and optical substrates for bonding without contamination risk.

The challenge

Composite lay-up demands precision release behaviour across every cm² of a large-format film. Release force must be tunable and consistent. PEEK and carbon fibre composite bonding requires activation that survives the cure cycle.

CPI's answer

Ximofilm release films provide tunable easy/medium/tight release profiles for aerospace and industrial composite lay-up. Our plasma activation of PEEK and high-performance composite substrates delivers bond strength that survives 180°C cure cycles.

PEEK high-temp components

Protective packaging films

The challenge

Electric vehicle drivetrain components demand high-reliability bonding on PEEK and fluoropolymer materials in thermal environments above 150°C. Battery separator films require precise wettability for electrolyte management.

CPI's answer

CPI’s surface functionalization chemistry permanently activates PEEK and PTFE for structural bonding in automotive drivetrains. Our wettability engineering delivers stable hydrophilic or hydrophobic profiles on battery separator films without solvents.

Filtration & Separation

Applications

Water filtration membranes

Anti-fouling surfaces

Ion exchange substrates

The challenge

Filtration membrane performance is determined by surface wettability. Getting precise, stable hydrophilic contact angles (0°–30°) on PE, PP, or PVDF membranes without surfactants or wet chemistry has been an unsolved process challenge.

CPI's answer

CPI’s AP-PECVD deposits stable hydrophilic nanocoatings on filtration membranes with ±2° contact angle uniformity across the full web width. The modification is stable for years without surfactant or wet treatment.

Applications

PSA label stocks

Double-sided tape liners

Sustainable packaging films

Protective release coatings

The challenge

Label and tape converters face regulatory pressure to eliminate PFAS and silicone from release chemistries. Inline roll-to-roll processing at 300+ m/min requires release liners with consistent, reproducible release force batch-to-batch.

CPI's answer

Ximofilm PFAS-free, silicone-free release liners deliver tunable release profiles at full production speed. The PET substrate is recyclable as uncoated film — a genuine sustainability advantage for sustainable packaging commitments.

Window film release

Thermal insulation films

The challenge

Construction films require durable hydrophobic barrier coatings without PFAS. PFAS-based DWR treatments face regulatory phase-out, and wet chemistry alternatives are either performance-limited or process-intensive.

CPI's answer

CPI’s PFAS-free hydrophobic nanocoatings deliver water contact angles above 100° on PP, PET, and HDPE construction films with 120-day stability outdoors. Inline deposition at production speed eliminates batch wet chemistry processing.
